Software Academy Internship Programme
Internship
Description
Looking to create positive change?
If you think Capital One is just a credit card provider, think again. In many ways, we’re as much a technology business as a finance company. We pioneered the use of predictive modelling in this industry, and today we still look at credit the way tech companies look at everything – with a view to changing the way people live. This is why Software Engineers are essential to our business.
One of the happy consequences of making finance easier for our customers is that Capital One is an inspiring place to launch your career. You’ll take on real projects with support from a buddy on your team and a programme mentor – you’ll get to meet our CEO too. You could even jump the queue when it comes to landing a place on our graduate programme. We love to create code. And we care just as much about the people behind the code. So get ready to be yourself and let your ideas fly.
We are committed to creating a level playing field and seek to create teams that are representative of our customers and the communities we serve. We’d love to hear from you if you identify with an under-represented group in our industry and are particularly keen to hear from women, the LGBTQ+ community and ethnic minority candidates.
We want to help you grow. That’s why we invest heavily in your learning and development. We’ve got a great track record of hiring graduates and enabling them to reach their full potential. Just look at our CEO, Lucy Hagues. She started as a graduate and now leads the UK business. And that’s just one of many success stories.
Software Engineers at Capital One
Our software engineers challenge the status quo and make an impact on millions of customers every single day. And that’s what makes engineering at Capital One like nowhere else.
For you, it means the chance to hone your skills in everything from APIs to mobile, big data to cyber security. Basically, this is a 10-week masterclass in software engineering.
What you’ll need
You don’t need to be on a Computer Science degree course, but you’ll need to be able to code in any language and you must be in your penultimate year of university. We don’t expect you to be an accomplished developer – just enthusiastic and a quick learner.
Where and how you’ll work
- This is a 10-week summer internship position based in our Nottingham office. But you should know we’ve adopted a flexible hybrid working model – one that creates the opportunity to work both remotely and in our offices, which provide great spaces for in-person collaboration.
- Our core office days are Tuesday and Wednesday, but the number of days you actually spend in the office will be led by your team, the work you’re doing. Many of our associates have flexible working patterns, so we’re open to discuss flexible working arrangements with you.
- Capital One is committed to diversity in the workplace.
- Capital One does not provide, endorse nor guarantee and is not liable for third-party products, services, educational tools or other information available through this site.
