The UK Institute for Technical Skills & Strategy (UK ITSS) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Communications and Digital Marketing Officer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will see you leading the creation of impactful content and delivering engaging digital campaigns that champion the vital contributions of the UK’s technical community within higher education and research.

As the national voice for technicians and the driving force behind the Technician Commitment, UK ITSS is dedicated to raising the profile and celebrating the invaluable work of over 35,000 technical professionals across the nation. We aim to ensure their critical role in education, research, and innovation is widely recognized and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

In this stimulating Communications and Digital Marketing Officer position, you will be instrumental in:

  • Spearheading the creation of compelling content across a range of digital platforms, including our website, social media channels, email marketing campaigns, and newsletters.
  • Developing and implementing corporate communications and digital engagement strategies designed to enhance the national reputation and visibility of UK ITSS.
  • Translating complex research findings from our Policy team into accessible and engaging content for a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Actively promoting key leadership initiatives, such as the prestigious Herschel Programme for Women in Technical Leadership.
  • Contributing significantly to increasing the visibility of technicians through impactful storytelling and the creation of content that showcases the tangible impact of UK ITSS’s work.

You will become an integral part of a small but highly effective marketing and communications team based at the University of Nottingham. This is a fantastic chance to play a crucial role in shaping the national narrative surrounding technical excellence and its importance.

About You – The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a talented individual who is:

  • A highly articulate and passionate communicator with exceptional copywriting skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Equipped with at least two years of demonstrable experience in a similar communications and digital marketing role.
  • A proactive individual with proven leadership capabilities and the ability to effectively engage and build relationships with diverse audiences.
  • Possessing a strong understanding of digital engagement principles, content marketing best practices, and effective stakeholder communications.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st July 2026
  • Working Hours: Full-time at 36.25 hours per week (Part-time options will be considered for a minimum of 21.75 hours per week).
