About the Role
As an Administrative Officer, you’ll be a vital part of the Early Start Service, providing professional and high-quality admin support to managers and front-line teams working in our nurseries and children’s centres. You’ll also be the friendly face that greets families and visitors – ensuring every interaction is a positive one!
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing reception areas and providing top-notch customer service
Supporting staff and management with administrative tasks like diary coordination, data input, report preparation, and document management
Handling financial procedures such as raising orders and processing invoices in line with LCC’s regulations
Organising and minute-taking for internal and external meetings
Supervising and training other administrative staff
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date administrative and financial systems
Working proactively to manage your own workload and supporting your team with theirs
Promoting the service and assisting with marketing materials and events
What We’re Looking For
We’re on the lookout for organised, friendly, and detail-oriented professionals with strong interpersonal skills. Our ideal candidate will be confident using a range of ICT systems and demonstrate the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
Excellent verbal and written communication
Competence using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and databases
Ability to manage and prioritise workloads independently and collaboratively
Great team spirit and commitment to delivering quality public service
Knowledge of general financial procedures and office systems
Comfortable supporting and managing other team members
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Good standard of literacy and numeracy
Experience providing customer-focused services
Experience supporting and minuting meetings
Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues
Experience working with diverse teams and meeting deadlines
Desirable Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent
Understanding of Leeds City Council’s financial systems and policies
