Role Overview

As an HR Business Partner for the Southern Region, you will be instrumental in providing a comprehensive and strategic HR service. This role demands a highly motivated individual capable of driving organizational development, effectively supporting business needs, and implementing HR policies that adhere to both legislation and best practices. You will lead a dedicated team of HR Advisors and HR Coordinators, working collaboratively to address station business challenges and cultivate a culture of high performance and unwavering employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic People Planning: Lead and implement the People Plan, ensuring alignment with the Operational Business Plan and the overarching company agenda.
  • HR Initiative Management: Oversee corporate and local HR initiatives, providing robust support for a diverse range of HR-related projects.
  • Collaboration with Centers of Excellence: Partner with HR Centers of Excellence, including Learning & Development, Resourcing, Reward, and Employee Relations, to ensure seamless and efficient HR service delivery.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that comply with all relevant employment regulations and industry best practices.
  • Employment Tribunal Support: Support and prepare UK Employment Tribunal cases, representing the company as required.
  • Trade Union Engagement: Engage in trade union negotiations related to pay, terms, conditions, and procedural matters.
  • Employee Transfer Management: Manage employee transfers, ensuring strict compliance with TUPE regulations.
  • Management Coaching and Development: Coach and develop operational management teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and career growth.
  • Business Planning and Policy Oversight: Oversee business planning and HR policy development from a people-centric perspective.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage HR Advisors and HR Coordinators across the Southern region.
  • Performance Culture Promotion: Promote a performance-driven culture and identify targeted learning interventions to enhance employee performance.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure strict compliance with both internal and external audits across all stations within the region.

What We’re Looking For

  • CIPD qualification or equivalent experience in a similar senior HR role.
  • A strategic and commercially astute approach to HR, with a strong focus on employee satisfaction and development.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels. 1  
  • Proven experience in trade union liaison and collective negotiations.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities with ease.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and motivation.
  • Previous HR experience within the aviation, logistics, or service-based B2B environments is highly desirable.
